May 26, 2020
Dear Patients and Families,
We hope that all of you are in good health and have adjusted to the new normal. The Kerzner Orthodontics Team is looking forward to seeing you soon upon the reopening of our office on June 1, 2020. Although there have been many changes over the past couple of months, our commitment to your safety and well-being remains the same. We will continue to deliver the highest quality of care while implementing new protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of our patients, families and staff.
Infection control has always been a top priority in our office. We are following guidelines recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). We will continue to monitor these agencies to stay up-to-date on any new guidance they release.
The following outlines some of the new protocols and preparations we are implementing:
- Daily health screening of our staff
- Mandatory pre-screening of each patient prior to arriving to appointments
- Modified patient schedule that will accommodate 6-feet social distancing in the clinic
- Modified drop-off / pick-up of patients
- Installation of air purifiers with medical grade filters in strategic areas
- Enhanced disinfection protocols throughout the office
- Specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn by all staff – we may look different but it’s still us!
- Mandatory masks for anyone entering the office
- Procedures requiring a high-speed handpiece will not be performed at this time and will be deferred to a later date
In order to provide the highest level of safety for everyone, the following steps and procedures will be implemented for all of our patients and we kindly ask that you adhere to them:
STEP 1: FILL OUT THE ONLINE PRE-APPOINTMENT SCREENING FORM RIGHT BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT (see link above)
Three days prior to your appointment you will receive an email reminder. This form can be found at kerznerortho.com by clicking on the COVID-19 tab. If you have registered for voice reminders you will receive it two days before your appointment and text reminders two hours prior to your appointment. This screening form must be filled out prior to coming to any future appointment.
STEP 2: BRUSH YOUR TEETH
All patients must brush their teeth prior to arriving at the office.
STEP 3: CALL OR TEXT

You can text our office by going to kerznerortho.com and clicking on the text button at the bottom of the screen. Please do not come up to our office until we have confirmed that we are ready to see you.
STEP 4: WEAR A MASK
Masks must be worn by anyone entering our office. We recommend wearing a mask before entering the building.
STEP 5: PATIENT ENTERING OFFICE
Only the patient will be allowed into the office unless it is an appointment that requires a parent, guardian or caregiver. Please alert our office of this prior to your appointment.
STEP 6: READING OF TEMPERATURE
We will be taking the temperature of every patient and anyone accompanying them prior to entering our office using a non-contact infrared thermometer. Anyone with a temperature over 100 degrees Fahrenheit will be not be seen that day.
STEP 7: USE OF HAND SANITIZER
Hand sanitizer will be provided immediately upon entering the office and will be required to be used by everyone.
STEP 8: PICK-UP AT COMPLETION OF APPOINTMENT
If possible, the accompanying person should wait outside the building during the appointment. We will call or text you with instructions for pick-up upon completion of the appointment.
To further ensure the safety of everyone, we will be accepting payments over the phone and online. Any recurring charges and payments can be set-up with our staff.
We will continue to update everyone by email and text of any additional changes as we all adjust to this new normal. Please go to patient login at kerznerortho.com and confirm that we have your most updated contact information. As always, please feel free to call us directly with any questions you may have.
