Office Visits

Our greatest goal is to give you the healthy, straight, beautiful smile that you've always wanted. We understand that choosing to receive orthodontic care is a big decision, and we respect your reasons for wanting to improve the way you look and feel. Our practice will work with you every step of the way to make sure that your orthodontic care is as rewarding as possible. Our practice utilizes the latest technology, offering a variety of safe and gentle treatment options, to give you the customized, individual care you deserve.

Every smile starts with a Complimentary New Patient Exam!

Your initial New Patient Exam is COMPLIMENTARY and will give you the opportunity to meet Dr. Kerzner and his staff, learn more about orthodontics, receive a complete initial exam, and find out which treatment options will best meet your needs. During your New Patient Exam, Dr. Kerzner will:

  • Review your dental and medical history forms
  • Provide a complete oral exam of your teeth, bite, and temporomandibular joints
  • Evaluate your orthodontic needs and address any questions or concerns you may have.

If Dr. Kerzner feels that you would benefit from orthodontic treatment, he will recommend that we take diagnostic records.

Diagnostic Records and Consultation

If diagnostic records are recommended, we provide sufficient time for our staff to take records so that you do not need to be inconvenienced.  However, if it is more convenient for you to reschedule at a different time, please do not hesitate to let us know.  Records are taken prior to beginning orthodontic treatment to provide us with more information that is not available at the initial clinical exam.  Our staff will take digital X-rays, facial and dental photographs, and impressions of your upper and lower teeth. These records allow Dr. Kerzner to thoroughly evaluate your orthodontic problem, formulate an individualized treatment plan, and monitor your progress during your treatment.

A consultation appointment is scheduled approximately two weeks after records are taken.  At this meeting, Dr. Kerzner will discuss the findings and recommendations for treatment.  Our staff will also discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans.

Our team will be glad to answer any questions you may have, and we will provide all the information you need to determine which treatment is right for you!

What happens after the consultation?

You're one step closer to achieving the smile you've always wanted! After your consultation, we will schedule your first appointment and Dr. Kerzner will place your new orthodontic appliance. This appointment generally takes about 30-60 minutes and during this time our team will be available to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible!

Scheduling Appointments

Visiting our office about every four to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Our staff will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.

  • Regular short appointments - The majority of appointments for routine adjustments, lasting about 15 minutes,  can be scheduled before or after school.
  • Longer appointments - appointments for placement of braces or appliances require approximately 30-60 minutes and are usually scheduled in the morning or early afternoon.
  • Emergency appointments - emergencies are anything that pokes, scratches, cuts, or causes pain that you cannot handle yourself.  Please refer to the First Aid section of our website and if needed, please do not hesitate to call our office for assistance.
  • Reminders - Our office provides email appointment reminders two business days before your scheduled appointment.  You can also login to your account on this website to check the date and time of your appointment.

We understand that “life happens”! If you're running late or need to reschedule, please let us know, and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. When you're ready to schedule your first appointment, contact our practice, and our friendly scheduling coordinators will assist you. We're looking forward to working with you.

Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment

It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every four to six months during your orthodontic treatment for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
